This is somehow related with the previous post.
During the nineteenth century the locking devices evolved very much in complexity. The efforts also went on engraving and casting, making the locks pieces of art. The book contains over 400 color photographs. They reflect the great pride in creative workmanship and the mechanical genius that characterized America at the time.
